Quarter 2 2024 Update

FleetCom Update

FleetCom Update

I do not know about you, but the first three months of this year have gone by WAY to fast. A lot happened in these three months. I am going to let the Division commanders speak about what has been going on.

Like we do at every community meeting, and in each quarterly updated, we would like to thank all those that continue to donate through Patreon or Discord Server Boosting. Our Patreon supporters: Aarius, aramova, Bushman, greg_nog, Oni, Razzun, Sivien21, Straker, TwoGreen, and Zahraphim. Your continued support is greatly appreciated and is solely used to offset the costs of the Microsoft Azure servers that host all our communication tools and SCNet website.

Division Updates

Arma Update

Arma

We said goodbye to Arma in January. This will be the last time they appear in the Newsletter. It is always hard to say goodbye to something. Especially a game division that has been with us for any period of time. But this month we say goodbye to VVarMachine Security Services – AKA the Arma Division. Farq and his officers and other support staff did a great job at running a division for a game that has been out for over a decade with minimal new content and generating less interest than it did even a year ago… [Read More]

PlanetSide 2 Update

PlanetSide 2

Quarter 1 of 2024 has been defined by the current state of Connery as a server. The server has continued to have low population since the end of last year, causing full continents to become a rarity. Subsequently, our attendance has decreased since the end of January for a variety of potential reasons. Despite these factors, we have continued to have stellar operations and success despite the lower attendance. Whenever our attendance dips, it always serves a lesson in optimizing the impact of individuals on the battlefield, and this past quarter has been no different. Everyone who has been showing up to our operations this past quarter should be proud of their performance, especially regarding operations targeting central bases on each continent.

This past quarter saw the promotion of long-time VVarMachine member Newson to NCO as part of our ongoing efforts to fill out the NCO ranks. He will be in charge of organizing Armor fireteams, or Construction if necessary, during Ops, as well as contributing his wealth of knowledge in those fields to the division. NCO training will continue as we move into the next quarter despite the inconvenient circumstances of Connery.

There are a few short term plans to discuss. First off, Office Hours will be making a return in April, the first of which is scheduled for April 2, at 6pm EST (3pm PST). Office hours across the community took a vacation in Q1 and we’re looking to bring them back. There isn’t a set schedule for them as of now, but expect them at least once a month as of right now, or more often if possible in the future. Second, the long awaited Construction Training will be completed and scheduled in April. The training is in the final stages of polish and making sure critical information isn’t missing. There will be extra announcements in the PS2 Outfit Channel about it once it’s ready.

Finally, and most importantly, a new PS2 Division Feedback Survey was posted this past week in PS2 Transmissions. The results of this survey will help us better figure out where we are going long-term with the division. While there have always been long term plans slowly progressing over time, it is important to realign those plans now while the PS2 Division is having a slow period, in case these changes either improve things in the short term or make sure our long term goals are things people want to strive for. This survey feels familiar to previous ones, but a lot of questions have either been changed or replaced with new ones. If you’re reading this and have joined us for Ops within the past year, please fill out the survey if you can spare the time. Your participation, no matter how large or small, continues to be greatly appreciated.

The next Quarterly Update for PS2 will likely discuss the results of this survey and what we’re doing because of them (or changes we’ve already made by that point). As with every quarterly, thank you to everyone who continues to support the division, as we couldn’t keep doing this without you. Until next time: We’ll see you on Auraxis!

Star Citizen Update

Star Citizen

VVarMachine Quarter 2 Update: Restart and rebuild.

Hello everyone. Since our last update quite a bit has happened within VVarMachine and within Star Citizen. We successfully defended a GrieferNet backed attack against the Daymar Rally server we were tasked to defend, we’ve trained and promoted 3 new NCO’s, hosted over 50 missions of various types including 2 additional joint ops. Whispers of 1.0 have been spread, the upcoming 3.23 patch coming with massive, game changing updates to many areas of gameplay. The past few weeks ISC and ATV’s have given us great insight into what is coming, as well as with some of our members achieving Evocati Test Status giving us their input on 3.23 and even more exciting, the state of Server Meshing.

During the past few months, Fleetcom has been working towards the goal of bringing consistent acitivy to the fleet. A survey hosted by ONI has been competed and it’s results are being used to schedule missions for the upcoming Task Force Icarus. New leadership has been helpful in creating more content for their units, and it has been pleasant to see the growth and excitement of new members to the org over the past few months. We are also looking to capitalize on the upcoming wave of players coming into the game with the release of 3.23, as well as members returning to service to check out the new gameplay.

Attending the 2953 Citizencon, we were told that we would be receiving most if not all of the content being shown before the end of 2024. I believe we all shared the same sentiment: Lets see if they actually deliver. It looks as though CIG is indeed going to deliver, with FPS gameplay being entirely overhauled, weapons and sights becoming more realistic, and ship combat finally recieving the Master Mode updates, server meshing, cargo centers, and much more. Several months ago Fleetcom put a hole on teaching Certifications as we looked to overhaul the way we taught and what material was included in them. Once the content in 3.23 is finalized, we will begin the final changes to the certs and being them back online. 3.23 looks to be one of the biggest content updates to Star Citizen to date, and with server meshing showing the ability to hold up to 800 players on a server, there will be a lot more interaction between players and other orgs.

We look to the next few months to continue the work we started in Q1: Continue to build and grow our fleet, create fun and exciting missions to gather more people under our banner, and enjoy the game together as a coordinated military style organization.
